Important Notice 20th December 2021

As of the week commencing 20th December Oak Lodge Medical Centre is committed to providing Covid vaccinations. You will be contacted when it is your turn. Our doctors and nurses are working hard to provide vaccines and we are still offering appointments for smears, immunisations and urgent issues. If you need urgent medical advice please ask for a telephone consultation, the Dr may feel they need to examine you so be prepared to come in for a face to face consultation on the day however many issues can be managed safely with telephone, video and photo consultations. If your problem can be managed remotely please go to our website and complete an econsultation. The DWP has extended the self-certification period from 7 days to 28 days until 26th January so please do not contact us for short term sick notes during this period but speak with your employer.

Please understand that we need to keep our workforce and patients safe so you will need to wear a facemask if you come to the surgery and you may be asked to provide evidence of a lateral flow test.

The new Covid variant is very contagious, please take care of yourselves and your families whilst we get people vaccinated and protected. We will resume routine work in the New Year.

Please see the eConsult banner below for the online consultation form.

How to access your COVID-19 vaccination status for travel purposes

You can access your COVID-19 vaccination status through the free NHS App from 17 May. You can access the app through mobile devices such as a smartphone or tablet. Proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status will be shown within the NHS App. We recommend that you register with the app before booking international travel.

If you do not have access to a smartphone and know that the country you are travelling to requires COVID-19 vaccination status, you can call the NHS helpline on 119 (from 17 May) and ask for a letter to be posted to you. This must be at least 5 working days after you’ve completed your course of the vaccine. We expect the letter to take up to 5 working days to reach you.

The letter will be sent automatically to the address registered with your GP. The 119 call handler you speak to will not be able to see your address to check this with you. If you’ve recently moved house, make sure you’ve given your new address to your GP practice before calling 119.

Please do not contact us about your COVID-19 vaccination status. GPs cannot provide letters showing your COVID-19

Changes to our Appointment System

Due to the current Coronavirus outbreak we have changed the way we are providing care to our patients. In order to protect people we need to minimise the number of patients coming in through the practice. We will be offering telephone appointments, video appointments and still have some face to face appointments but only for people who have spoken with a nurse or Doctor first.

Please be advised that Online access and automated booking system have been suspended until further notice

The practice has taken these measures in order to maximise opportunities to triage and manage potential coronavirus cases. Thus reducing the risk of infected patients attending the medical centre and passing the virus onto other patients and staff.

We apologise for any inconvenience but feel it is in the best interest of our patients and team

We are trying to work with technology to make this better for everybody; this will mean moving as many prescriptions as possible to electronic prescribing and posting out medical certificates.

We understand that many people will be very worried and affected by this and we want to reassure you that we are working hard behind the scenes to deliver a safe service. We will be updating the website regularly with sources of information that we think will be helpful.
